The door lock can be connected directly to the reader. Depending on the lock, either a DC or an AC auxiliary power is required to operate the lock.
The information that the door lock is operated is available on the KNX an can be used for example to trigger a scene.

In hotel room applications, two readers can be connected to each other: the pushbutton and the output of the external reader can operate the door bell.
The output of the inside reader can operate the door lock. It is remotely controlled by the outside access reader.
The pushbutton of the inside reader can be used to perform the "Do not disturb" function, which also deactivates the door bell while being active.
The inside reader can be used to verify that the card holder is actually in his room, in order to provide the comfort settings (light, aircon, etc.).
And last but not least, the inside reader's input can be used to determine whether the door is actually closed. |
